UIC’s Victor Mateevitsi participates in 1871’s Startup 101 entrepreneurial program for students

Victor Mateevitsi, a computer science PhD student and a research assistant at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), was one of over 80 university students selected to try their hands at entrepreneurship at Chicago’s 1871, the foremost tech startup hub in Chicago. During the 3-day weekend-style event, April 4-6, Victor and other students from 1871 member institutions University of Illinois, Northwestern University, University of Chicago and Illinois Institute of Technology participated in “Startup 101,” a curriculum complete with crash courses, keynote speakers, mentorship, and pitches. They had the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship from some of Chicago’s most prominent business leaders, and to ideate, create, and bring to life real startups. This unique opportunity enabled students to take advantage of business resources, opportunities, and expertise provided by Chicago’s business community.
