From Disasterville to Semantic Big Data Queries and Distributed Computing; Michael Lewis's PhD JourneyM. Lewis, EVL
Participants: Michael Lewis
Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 1:00 PM EVL Cyber-Commons, Room 2068 ERF EVL PhD candidate, Michael Lewis summarizes his research contributions at EVL with an in depth view of his PhD research and summer internship at Argonne National Laboratory. An introductory overview is provided of the Resource Descriptive Framework RDF, specifying ways RDF queries of linked data can be facilitated within a distributed environment. Lewis also describes how his research uses a unique path-based approach to distributed queries of linked data. The presentation concludes with an overview of the research activities and experience obtained while Lewis was an intern at Argonne National Laboratory working on "Optimizing Read/Write Times for Mutli-dimensional Datasets."
